Summit County’s own Powderhound Transportation is now offering summer specials that make private non-shared mountain transportation more affordable than ever. Why Powderhound? No waiting, No stopping, and No set times!

Transportation from Denver to Keystone, Breckenridge, Vail, Beaver Creek, Winter Park, and Steamboat.

Powderhound was established in 2008 in Breckenridge, Colorado. Over the last four ski seasons Powderhound has provided unparallelled service, safety, and comfort. Powderhound has transported thousands of skiers and mountain travelers to Colorado’s top resorts. Powderhound is experienced, trusted, and unique.

The best-kept secret in Colorado is that there is actually more to do in the summer than in the winter! The area is extremely popular with Colorado residents and tourists. One of the best being that lodging accommodations is as much as half the price of the same accommodations during the ski season. Although the summer tourist business is steadily growing, here it’s pale comparison to the number of winter visitors. As a result you’ll find a casual, relaxing and pleasant atmosphere during the summer months.

• Weddings • Bicycle Touring • Mountain Biking • Boating • Alpine Slides • Golf • Hiking • River Rafting • ATV Tours • Horseback Riding • Gambling Casinos • Jeep Tours • Fishing • Red Rocks Concerts

Powderhound has recently updated its vehicle fleet for the summer season. Vehicles now have more room to transport passengers, luggage, and any equipment one might need for summer mountain adventures. Powderhound is here for all your summer mountain transportation needs!

Powderhound vs. Rental Cars

Powderhound provides a service, not a rental. Here are some good reasons as to why Powderhound can be a better option than a rental…

• No waiting, we pickup right outside baggage claim. No rental car buses, lines, etc…
• No hidden charges or fees with Powderhound! Rental cars sometimes look good until the airport fee; city fee and sales tax are included.
• Fuel. Driving up more than 3,000 feet in a rental with luggage for 2 hours + is not cheap with gas prices rising.
• Awesome Drivers! Drivers are trained and experienced in the harshest mountain conditions.

Please go to RidethePowder.com, Powderhoundweddingtransportation.com & RidetoRedRocks.com for all Rocky Mountain transportation needs.

Spring Break 2012 is approaching quickly. With average snowfall this year, the mountains are hoping for tons of snow this March and tons of Spring breakers to help out the mountain economy. Many resorts are pushing some sweet Spring Break deals for this March through April . Breckenridge and Steamboat have good lodging deals and Vail is offering some really nice packages especially for the upcoming snowball festival which takes place in early March.

How to take advantage of these deals:

Check with the resorts website. Many times they reservations department will be able to help you with finding the best deal. Keep in mind as always, the early bird gets the worm. The earlier you book the better deal you get. Don’t expect super discounted lift tickets with Vail. Even during Spring Breck do not expect super discounted lift tickets with Vail Resorts. You may be able to find some with Winter Park, Copper, Steamboat, Aspen, and other, but Vail’s main push is the epic pass. The epic pass is an amazing deal, but because of this Vail does not really push discounted lift tickets at any point throughout the season.

Discounts on Rentals of All Types:

Discounts on ski rentals, car rentals, van rentals, shuttle rentals, and more. Most of these companies large and small should be pushing some sweet deals. From Christy Sports to CMA to Powderhound to Hertz, expect some sweet deals to be around. Especially for the end of spring break into April these companies and others should be rolling out deals to close out another sweet season.

One of the most popular questions asked, is “are there discounts on shuttles or charters to Breckenridge”. Some companies offer them and some do not. You should compare the discounted prices carefully to make sure that you are getting the best deal. Many times more expensive companies will offer discounted rates however they are still more than other companies base fares. It’s important to do your research as we will tell you every time. We can do the research for you and get you booked on the best deal for your needs. It’s another one of the advantages to using our website versus booking directly with companies. Shoot us an email and we can explore options for yourself and/or your group. Discounts can range anywhere from as small as 1% all the way up to 30% depending on the time of year. It’s rare for charter companies to offer more than 30%. Typical discounts are usually 5%, 10%, and 15%. 20% is quite high, but it’s possible.

You need to make sure you choose the options that is best suited for your groups experience. Just because it’s the cheapest does not mean it’s the best option for getting to Breckenridge. Granted, price is very important, however don’t let $50-$100 ruin your trip to and from the hill. Making sure you get the best deal and choice for your group whether it be a rental suv or private charter is really important. Hope this helped you understand the discount system for chartered transfers to Breckenridge and the surrounding areas.

The Colorado Ski Areas

You come to Colorado to visit the mountains, ski, bike, and be outdoors. One awesome fact about Colorado is that there are over twenty resorts from Crested Butte to Aspen to Beaver Creek to Keystone Colorado, it’s what makes Colorado – Colorado.

Why Go With Colorado

One of the main benefits to doing a vacation in Colorado is that you can spread out and visit multiple resorts in one trip. This way you can get a taste of more than just one flavor. With so many choices it can be tough to pick which resort you want. If you want to visit multiple ski areas in one trip, you want to start by picking an area rather than a resort.

Listed Below are various areas of ski resorts. Keep in mind since different companies own different resorts your lift tickets may not transfer from resort to resort

Common Transportation Routes

Summit County – Breckenridge, Keystone, and Copper Mountain

Eagle County – Vail, Beaver Creek

Pitkin County – Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk, Aspen Highlands

Gunnison County – Crested Butte

Routt County – Steamboat Springs

Picking an area helps limit travel and transfer times between resorts. If you pick resorts that are related than you can transfer your lift tickets. In Pitkin county, Aspen, Snowmass, Buttermilk, and Aspen Highlands are all related. Vail Resorts owns all the resorts in Summit and Eagle County except for Copper Mountain and Arapahoe basin. Crested Butte is quite isolated however can well worth the trip to avoid the crowds and ski some serious terrain. Steamboat is isolated as well, but is not too far from Summit and Eagle County (it’s about two hours by car).

Listed below are some common route times (times can vary with weather and traffic ).

Average Transportation Times

Summit to Eagle County – 40 to 60 minutes

Summit to Pitkin County – 3 hours

Summit to Routt County – 1 hour and 45 minutes

Eagle to Pitkin County – 2 hours and 30 minutes

Routt County to Eagle County – 2 hours

Again, these are just a couple of common routes, there are obviously many more. Without a rental car it can be tough to get between these areas since there is no shared shuttle or bus service. You must go with a private car or shuttle. Prices for these private shuttles varies depending on your needs and season, but considering the length of time they range anywhere from $100 all the way up to $400 + each way. The more miles and farther the distance, the higher the cost.

Keystone to Vail and Beaver Creek

If you are planning a trip to Summit or Eagle county you can hire a private shuttle or rent a car to get you from one county to the next. To get from Keystone to Vail or Beaver Creek to Keystone, you can hire a shuttle to take you and your group. The travel time between these two destinations is not severe unless weather comes into play.

Copper Mountain to Vail and Beaver Creek

As with getting from Keystone to Vail or from Breckenridge to Vail, getting to Beaver Creek is about the same distance. Since Copper Mountain is located right off of I-70 before Vail Pass, travel time will be shorter from here to Beaver Creek or Vail. With a rental car you simply hop on I-70 and take it until Avon. If you need to hire a shuttle they will pick you up at your chosen times and transfer your group to Eagle County (Vail – Beaver Creek).

On a good day Steamboat Springs is about one hour and forty minutes from Breckenridge. The road between these two resorts is in the mountains so weather has a large effect on travel time. It is one lane at many times and you need be prepared for mountain and winter driving. Snow tires are a big help in the winter if you will be doing this drive. Make sure and check weather conditions before departing, road closures do happen.
