Eagle Airport Shuttle

With I-70 becoming more and more congested ever year some travelers are choosing to fly into Eagle County versus Denver to get to resorts like Breckenridge, Keystone, Aspen, and Copper Mountain.  Eagle Airport can is slightly closer to these resorts than Denver.  Depending on the season travel time can range from an hour and twenty minutes to two hours plus.  Normally Denver offers cheaper flights than Eagle and rental cars and shuttles tend to be less in Denver as well, However Eagle can offer a much higher level of convenience and on occasion equal pricing.

Benefits to Flying into Eagle County Airport

  • Convenience – It’s a smaller airport with less traffic typically.  Usually security lines are shorter.
  • Location – Eagle County Airport is about 75 miles away from Keystone, Breckenridge Ski Resort, and Copper Mountain.  On a good day this is about 40 minutes closer than the Denver Airport.

Note: With snow on the roads it can take equal time (in comparison to Denver Airport) or more since the road from Eagle to Summit County is through the mountains and you must go over Vail Pass.

Eagle Airport offers some great value to travelers looking for convenience over price.  If you want to try and avoid the crowds, then Eagle may be your bet.

Airlines and Routes

Eagle Airport is growing considerably and more airlines are offering non stop service to Eagle.  You can currently fly to Eagle non-stop from major cities like

Houston – United Airlines
Dallas – American Airlines
Los Angeles -  United Airlines
New York – United Airlines
Philadelphia – United Airlines or US Airways
Miami – American Airlines
Chicago – United Airlines and American Airlines

Every year there seem to be more non-stop routes added.

Important Note!Keep in mind if you need to stop in Denver to get to Eagle, it is most likely not worth your time.  By the time you transfer planes and finally get to Eagle you could have already been at your destination.  If you must stop in Denver to get to Eagle, you should get a ground transfer or rental from Denver instead.  If there is a non stop from your city then Eagle is a viable option.

Eagle Airport Ground Transportation

So you’ve made the decision to fly into Eagle?  Great!  You now need to get a bus or private car to Breckenridge or the rest of Summit County.  Unfortunately, there is no shared bus service from Eagle Airport to Copper, Keystone Mountain, or Breckenridge Ski Area.  If you’re at Eagle Airport you must rent a car or take a private shuttle or car service.

Since there is not much demand for public transfers from Eagle to Breckenridge or Copper, no shared services are available.  Most travelers these days travel on price basis solely, not convenience.  Due to this fact, there is simply not a ton of traffic from Eagle County Airport to Summit (Breck, Key, and Copper).

There are a few rental car companies and shuttle companies that service Eagle Airport.  Avis, Hertz, and Enterprise all have offices there.  Eagle Mountain Shuttle, Lion’s Direct Express, Powderhound Transportation, CMA, and Express Ride all offer shuttle service there as well.
