Whoa! I’m in Breckenridge..Why should I spend the dough and go to Vail? Are you serious?  First of all the cost is not that different from Breckenridge. Both Breckenridge and Vail are owned by Vail resorts so they have very similar lift ticket prices. That settles, the “how much” questions.  But why? Vail is one of the world’s largest ski resorts, with over four thousand acres of in bounds skiable terrain.  In a word, it’s huge!  The village has a very different feel than Breckenridge and can be a nice change of scenery. Vail being close to Breckenridge, can offer a special day for you, your group, and your family.

They may look close on our map, however these two cities are actually a little ways due to the mountain driving.  On average a traveler should expect about a forty to fifty minute trip from Breckenridge to Vail and vice versa.  This is not that far of a distance if you would like to visit both resorts during your ski or mountain trip.  Please don’t forget that travel time does change depending on weather.  Snowy roads can make this trip much longer.

If you already have a rental car and are set on driving then getting from Breckenridge to Vail is fairly simple, just hop in and roll.  You may want to check the road and weather conditions first, but other than that you’re pretty set.  If you don’t mind sharing a ride, you can look for a shared shuttle bus that will take you over.  Keep in mind you will be on their set times so make sure you make them.  If you want a little more flexibility with times you can use services like Powderhound Transportation which provide around resort transfers as well as airport shuttles.

Rates will vary on shuttle buses, private transfers, and rentals depending on season.  Rentals usually run at least $100/day, shared rides start around $20/person, and private rides vary depending on what you’re looking for.  If you have a group of 3 or more you many times snag  a good deal on chartering your transportation from Vail to Breckenridge.

Summit Stage – They offer bus service around Summit County however can be helpful when trying to move around

Avis Rental Car – If you’re thinking about renting, Avis is not a bad choice

Powderhound Transportation – They mainly provide airport shuttle services, however do offer charter services from Vail to Breckenridge as well

Eagle County – Check in with the folks in Vail to see what their opinion is on the matter
